WEBVTT 00:26.170 --> 00:27.130 Good morning. 00:27.810 --> 00:29.450 Welcome to Inquisition Update. 00:29.770 --> 00:32.490 My name is Tom Friess and I'll be your host for the next hour. 00:32.810 --> 00:35.630 You're listening to FirstAmendmentRadio .com. 00:35.730 --> 00:37.030 Thanks for tuning in, everybody. 00:38.030 --> 00:42.810 Now, continuing in Dave Hunt's book, A Woman Rides the Beast, Dave Hunt is 00:42.810 --> 00:48.790 covering the portion of this book having to do with the papal dominion over kings. 00:48.790 --> 00:54.030 You know, the scripture says, speaking of Vatican City, that great city which 00:54.030 --> 00:55.930 reigneth over the kings of the earth. 00:56.730 --> 01:01.470 We've talked about how the papacy controls the kings of the earth, and this 01:01.470 --> 01:06.610 particular section of the chapter deals with papal dominion over England and 01:06.610 --> 01:07.070 Ireland. 01:07.930 --> 01:13.750 And we concluded yesterday's broadcast with this quote, It would be impossible to 01:13.750 --> 01:19.570 enumerate the outrages and enormities practiced in England during this gloomy 01:19.570 --> 01:26.350 period by kings and popes, who considered the assertion of any singular popular 01:26.350 --> 01:31.890 right as a crime, which God had appointed them to punish. 01:32.750 --> 01:37.810 More than a hundred murders were committed by ecclesiastics during the reign of Henry 01:37.810 --> 01:41.050 II, in which the parties were not even punished. 01:42.170 --> 01:47.730 The clergy had absolute power over their own body, and no appeal was allowed from 01:47.730 --> 01:48.590 their decisions. 01:49.570 --> 01:55.550 A layman forfeited his life by the crime of murder, but an ecclesiastic went 01:55.550 --> 01:56.310 unpunished. 01:57.210 --> 02:00.030 This was called one of the immunities of the clergy. 02:00.870 --> 02:06.390 When the king tried to change the law to deal with the clergy, the pope refused his 02:06.390 --> 02:13.090 sanction and denounced it as, quote, prejudicial to the church and destructive 02:13.090 --> 02:15.450 of her privileges, unquote. 02:16.170 --> 02:22.030 Looking back from today's perspective, such overt papal dominion over sovereigns 02:22.030 --> 02:27.010 seems inconceivable, but it was in fact the norm for that day. 02:27.770 --> 02:34.690 The popes literally ruled the entire known world for centuries, just exactly as the 02:34.690 --> 02:36.570 Apostle John's vision foretold. 02:37.890 --> 02:41.830 Now, continuing where we left off yesterday under the subtitle Pope Gregory 02:41.830 --> 02:51.470 VII, the author writes, Before he became pope, as famous Hildebrand, Gregory VII 02:51.470 --> 02:56.970 was the manipulating genius behind five other popes, including Alexander II. 02:57.710 --> 03:02.830 Gregory began his pontificate, quote, by asserting the right to dispose 03:02.830 --> 03:08.190 of kingdoms, in imitation of the example set by Pope Gregory I, the Great, 03:08.650 --> 03:11.210 nearly 400 years before, unquote. 03:11.750 --> 03:16.070 He declared that the power to, quote, bind and loose, unquote, 03:16.670 --> 03:23.210 granted by Christ to Peter, gave the popes, quote, the right to make and unmake 03:23.210 --> 03:30.390 kings, to construct and reconstruct governments, to wrestle from those who 03:30.390 --> 03:38.030 obeyed all the territory held by them, and to bestow it upon those who would hold 03:38.030 --> 03:40.930 it subject to the papal authority, unquote. 03:41.810 --> 03:42.730 That's right. 03:42.850 --> 03:46.910 If any king disobeyed the pope, the pope literally had the power to remove 03:46.910 --> 03:51.390 from him all his territories, and give it to someone else. 03:51.390 --> 03:55.850 Had he not read Revelation chapter 17, verse 18? 03:57.030 --> 04:00.730 Gregory was the first pope to literally dethrone kings. 04:01.430 --> 04:07.130 If he decided to depose the German emperor, Gregory simply said, quote, 04:07.890 --> 04:13.570 to me is given power to bind and loose on earth and in heaven, unquote. 04:14.050 --> 04:19.570 If he set his heart upon some property that belonged to others, Gregory simply 04:19.570 --> 04:27.410 declared, as he had at his Roman Synod of 1080 AD, quote, we desire to show the 04:27.410 --> 04:35.590 world that we can give or take away at our will kingdoms, duchies, earldoms, 04:35.990 --> 04:43.610 in a word, the possession of all men, for we can bind and loose, unquote. 04:44.150 --> 04:45.010 That's right. 04:45.090 --> 04:46.930 We're not talking about just the kings of the earth. 04:46.930 --> 04:49.450 We're talking about individual personal property. 04:50.470 --> 04:55.850 The pope can redistribute the wealth of the world at his whim. 04:56.810 --> 05:04.730 And that's what's implied in papal encyclicals and papal bulls. 05:05.130 --> 05:08.590 The pope can redistribute the wealth of the world. 05:09.660 --> 05:16.270 Now picture, for example, in 1077, the humbled Henry IV, supreme head of the 05:16.270 --> 05:23.270 Holy Roman Empire and heir to Charlemagne, whom Pope Leo III had crowned emperor in 05:23.270 --> 05:30.810 800 AD, crossing the Alps and forced to wait in penitence, barefoot and in a hair 05:30.810 --> 05:37.710 cloth shirt in the snow, outside the castle of Canossa to make his peace with 05:37.710 --> 05:43.330 Pope Gregory VII, claiming to be, quote, king of kings, unquote. 05:43.330 --> 05:49.490 Pope Gregory, because of a quarrel with Henry, had declared, quote, on the part of 05:49.490 --> 05:54.490 God omnipotent, I forbid Henry to govern the kingdoms of Italy and Germany. 05:55.310 --> 06:01.230 I absolve all subjects from every oath they have taken, and I excommunicate every 06:01.230 --> 06:04.490 person who shall serve him as king, unquote. 06:05.450 --> 06:10.030 Henry had no defense against that stupor weapon of the pope's. 06:10.030 --> 06:17.550 Thus was established the magnificent horror portrayed by John in Revelation 06:17.550 --> 06:26.530 chapter 17, headquartered in a city located upon seven hills, verse 9, 06:27.470 --> 06:32.930 and which, quote, reigneth over the kings of the earth, unquote, verse 18. 06:33.690 --> 06:40.030 One 18th century historian counted 95 popes who claimed to have divine power to 06:40.030 --> 06:41.290 depose kings. 06:41.990 --> 06:44.950 There's no other city which meets these criteria. 06:45.870 --> 06:48.330 John's vision had been remarkably accurate. 06:49.310 --> 06:55.370 The bloodiest pontiff of Innocent III, who reigned from 1198 to 1216, 06:55.370 --> 07:02.070 whom he says, quote, encompassed Christendom with terror for close to 20 07:02.070 --> 07:08.390 years, Peter De Rosa writes, quote, he crowned and deposed sovereigns, 07:08.530 --> 07:14.030 put nations under interdict, virtually created the papal states across central 07:14.030 --> 07:16.630 Italy from the Mediterranean to the Adriatic. 07:17.150 --> 07:19.270 He had not lost a single battle. 07:20.050 --> 07:25.370 In pursuit of his aims, he shed more blood than any other pontiff, unquote. 07:26.190 --> 07:30.390 Desiring to put Otho of Saxony on the German throne, Innocent wrote, 07:30.510 --> 07:35.310 quote, by the authority which God has given us in the person of St. Peter, 07:35.830 --> 07:41.610 we declare you king, and we order the people to render you, in this capacity, 07:42.230 --> 07:43.530 homage and obedience. 07:44.430 --> 07:52.630 We, however, shall expect you to subscribe to all our desires as a return for the 07:52.630 --> 07:54.850 imperial crown, unquote. 07:55.370 --> 08:01.730 Pope Innocent III's, quote, proud spirit chafed at the thought that any earthly 08:01.730 --> 08:06.250 potentate should equal him, either in greatness or in authority. 08:07.150 --> 08:12.290 Therefore, he required that, quote, all disputes between princes, unquote, 08:12.650 --> 08:14.190 should be referred to him. 08:14.930 --> 08:19.650 And if either party should refuse, quote, to obey the sentence of Rome, 08:20.030 --> 08:23.570 he was to be excommunicated and deposed, unquote. 08:24.250 --> 08:29.390 And a like penalty was to be visited upon those who refused to attack whatever, 08:29.950 --> 08:34.670 quote, refractory delinquent, unquote, he should point out. 08:34.670 --> 08:39.590 In other words, the popes could seat and unseat kings, and they could also order 08:39.590 --> 08:42.330 one kingdom to go to war against another. 08:43.030 --> 08:44.430 The Bible makes it clear. 08:45.350 --> 08:52.950 Now, as Eller and Moral remind us, quote, the papacy became not only the 08:52.950 --> 08:57.730 highest authority in respect of international jurisdiction, being entitled 08:57.730 --> 09:04.390 to judge kings and princes, but secular potentates also sought the pope's sanction 09:04.390 --> 09:10.570 in major changes of their international position, such as acquisition of new 09:10.570 --> 09:12.970 territories or titles, unquote. 09:13.810 --> 09:18.110 John Lackland, King of England, made the mistake of having a violent 09:18.110 --> 09:20.030 quarrel with Pope Innocent III. 09:21.030 --> 09:26.590 Quote, after attempting resistance, he completely submitted to Rome, 09:27.110 --> 09:32.670 surrendered his royal crown to Pope Innocent III, and received it back again 09:32.670 --> 09:36.410 from him as a vassal of the Holy See, unquote. 09:36.930 --> 09:41.970 That's right, King John of England, surrendering to the papacy, removed his 09:41.970 --> 09:46.630 crown, set it down before his feet, and let the pope pick it up and put it 09:46.630 --> 09:54.290 back on his head, literally making John and England a vassal of the pope. 09:54.670 --> 10:01.670 The document dated May 15, 1213 A.D. 10:02.870 --> 10:09.630 is known as, quote, King John Lackland's infudation to Pope Innocent III. 10:09.630 --> 10:12.750 And it's included in the index of this book. 10:13.770 --> 10:14.070 R. 10:14.110 --> 10:14.390 W. 10:14.470 --> 10:16.790 Thompson adds his insight to this event. 10:18.450 --> 10:23.190 Quote, forfeitures, interdicts, excommunications, and every other form of 10:23.190 --> 10:27.810 ecclesiastical censure and punishment were of almost daily occurrence. 10:28.850 --> 10:35.370 Even such monarchs as Philip Augustus and Henry IV quailed before him, that is, 10:35.490 --> 10:36.270 Innocent III. 10:36.270 --> 10:43.630 And Peter II of Aragon and John of England ignominiously consented to convert their 10:43.630 --> 10:49.050 kingdoms into spiritual fiefs, and to hold them in subordination to him, 10:49.510 --> 10:52.910 upon the condition of paying an annual tribute. 10:53.710 --> 10:59.830 That's right, they were now to pay their oppressor for oppressing them. 11:00.450 --> 11:01.610 That's the papacy. 11:01.610 --> 11:09.150 Yet more evidence, Dave Hunt writes, Gregory IX, who reigned from 1227 to 1241 11:09.150 --> 11:16.310 A.D., who established a Holy Roman Inquisition, and the handing of heritage 11:16.310 --> 11:21.790 to the secular powers for execution, thundered that the Pope was lord and 11:21.790 --> 11:24.610 master of everyone and everything. 11:25.470 --> 11:32.290 Pope Innocent IV, who reigned from 1243 to 1254, agreed, because, as he argued, 11:32.830 --> 11:37.750 the popes did not get their dominion merely from the donation of Constantine, 11:38.010 --> 11:40.270 but already had it from God. 11:41.290 --> 11:47.630 Boniface VIII went further, and in his bull, Unum Sanctum of 1302 A.D., 11:47.630 --> 11:53.270 in which he claimed authority over all temporal powers, made absolute obedience 11:53.270 --> 11:56.410 to the Pope a condition of salvation. 11:57.110 --> 12:02.730 That's right, he says, it is absolutely necessary for every human being to be 12:02.730 --> 12:04.470 subject to the Roman Pontiff. 12:05.350 --> 12:07.410 That's Unum Sanctum, a papal bull. 12:07.410 --> 12:08.950 Papal thunder. 12:09.750 --> 12:14.910 You cannot go to hell unless the Pope be your savior. 12:16.210 --> 12:17.090 That's blasphemy. 12:18.090 --> 12:19.810 Nuclear-powered blasphemy. 12:20.690 --> 12:23.970 And everybody wonders today, who is going to be the Antichrist? 12:24.930 --> 12:26.370 Unbelievable darkness. 12:27.590 --> 12:33.670 By the time of the death of Roman Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, upon whose neck Pope 12:33.670 --> 12:38.910 Alexander III had placed his conquering foot, it had long been understood that, 12:39.130 --> 12:45.190 quote, nobody could acquire the imperial crown without coronation by the Pope, 12:46.170 --> 12:46.590 unquote. 12:47.550 --> 12:54.330 Quoting again, Emperor Charles IV secured peace and final harmony with the papacy by 12:54.330 --> 12:59.890 renouncing any imperial activity in the whole of Italy, leaving the Popes to 12:59.890 --> 13:05.150 govern there, and this self-restriction was observed by subsequent emperors until 13:05.150 --> 13:07.410 the end of the Middle Ages, unquote. 13:08.230 --> 13:15.770 Pope Julius II, who reigned from 1503 to 1513, furious because Louis XII of France 13:15.770 --> 13:22.010 wouldn't support him in his military campaigns, drew up a papal bull depriving 13:22.010 --> 13:28.390 him of his kingdom and giving it to Henry VIII of England, provided he proved his 13:28.390 --> 13:32.510 piety by supporting the Pope in his wars. 13:33.190 --> 13:38.010 Supporting the Pope in his wars, that's what England was expected to do, 13:38.110 --> 13:40.650 just like America today. 13:41.450 --> 13:44.270 Julius died before the bull was published. 13:44.270 --> 13:50.630 The Pope's passion for fighting, quote-unquote, holy wars to extend the 13:50.630 --> 13:56.870 papal territories inspired Michelangelo, whom he had hired to paint the ceiling of 13:56.870 --> 14:05.030 the Sistine Chapel, to pen famous words so apropos to Julius and many other Popes, 14:05.490 --> 14:13.950 quote, of chalices they make helmet and sword and sell by the bucket the blood of 14:13.950 --> 14:15.570 the Lord, unquote. 14:15.790 --> 14:21.970 In a recent article in a national Catholic newspaper, a priest confessed, 14:22.510 --> 14:28.770 quote, the church was subverted by the ambitions of such men as Gregory VII, 14:29.390 --> 14:35.990 Innocent III, Boniface VII, into a political ecclesiastical institution, 14:36.570 --> 14:42.430 wielding totalitarian power in both sacred and secular fields, unquote. 14:43.270 --> 14:48.650 He fails to mention that the dogmas and claims of Rome remain the same today as 14:48.650 --> 14:49.470 they were then. 14:50.310 --> 14:52.570 The Roman Catholic Church has not changed. 14:53.310 --> 14:56.570 Only circumstances force her to vary her tactics. 14:56.570 --> 15:04.270 The open threats and aggression of a Gregory VII won't work in today's world, 15:04.410 --> 15:05.230 says Dave Hunt. 15:06.070 --> 15:09.890 Though wielded more subtly, however, the Vatican's power, listen to this, 15:10.090 --> 15:15.430 the Vatican's power is no less effective today than it ever was. 15:16.070 --> 15:18.830 No less effective today than it ever was. 15:19.530 --> 15:22.690 That means the Pope still rules over the kings of the earth. 15:23.310 --> 15:26.030 If that's not true, then the Bible is a liar. 15:27.050 --> 15:31.690 And if you see corruption in the American government, then you have to concede. 15:32.630 --> 15:38.030 It's because the Pope rules over the President of the United States, 15:38.330 --> 15:40.410 and the Congress, and the Supreme Court. 15:41.210 --> 15:45.650 One author who spent a lifetime analyzing and writing about the Vatican concluded, 15:45.850 --> 15:50.450 quote, The Vatican is the paramount superpower of our times. 15:51.490 --> 15:56.330 Its adherents, nearly one billion, can be made to operate in every corner of 15:56.330 --> 15:56.830 the world. 15:57.790 --> 16:02.050 Hence the importance for every government of having the Pope as a partner in the 16:02.050 --> 16:04.410 pursuance of any given world policy. 16:05.270 --> 16:10.070 Vatican policies are directed by the Pope, who has neither Parliament, Congress, 16:10.270 --> 16:13.650 or Senate, or any similar democratic body. 16:14.350 --> 16:19.870 Limiting his decisions, powers, or policies, he is an absolute autocratic 16:19.870 --> 16:22.530 ruler in the fullest meaning of the word. 16:23.050 --> 16:23.470 Unquote. 16:24.370 --> 16:25.130 Are you convinced? 16:26.050 --> 16:30.970 Now, not only is it that city, that great city which reigneth over the 16:30.970 --> 16:33.650 kings of the earth, she's also got a golden cup in her hand. 16:34.830 --> 16:41.950 Kings dwell in palaces, are waited upon by servants, and because of their absolute 16:41.950 --> 16:46.110 authority over their subjects, accumulate great wealth. 16:47.050 --> 16:51.370 It will therefore be expected that a city which reigns over the kings of the earth 16:51.370 --> 16:52.990 would be the wealthiest of all. 16:52.990 --> 16:57.850 Such is the case with the woman astride the beast in Revelation 17. 16:59.810 --> 17:07.330 That fact is surely signified by, quote, gold, and precious stones and 17:07.330 --> 17:14.190 pearls, unquote, with which she is adorned as well as by the, quote, golden cup in 17:14.190 --> 17:17.790 her hand, unquote, Revelation 17.4. 17:17.790 --> 17:23.750 That the golden cup is, quote, full of abominations and filthiness, 17:23.910 --> 17:29.870 unquote, indicates that her wealth has been acquired through abominable means. 17:31.010 --> 17:36.430 Cardinal Baronius, though a defender of the papacy, confessed that in St. Peter's 17:36.430 --> 17:41.850 chair have sat monsters, quote, filled with fleshly lusts and cunning in 17:41.850 --> 17:47.050 all forms of wickedness, having prostituted the chair of St. Peter for 17:47.050 --> 17:49.510 their minions and paramours, unquote. 17:49.510 --> 17:56.350 In his 16th century ecclesiastical annals, he wrote, quote, the Roman Catholic Church 17:56.350 --> 18:02.010 was covered with silks and precious stones, which publicly prostituted itself 18:02.010 --> 18:02.850 for gold. 18:03.650 --> 18:08.950 Never did priests, and especially popes, commit so many adulteries, rapes, 18:09.390 --> 18:14.830 incest, robberies, and murders as in the Middle Ages, unquote. 18:15.790 --> 18:21.210 Petrarch, poet laureate of the empire, described the papal court at Avignon, 18:21.570 --> 18:27.590 France, scornfully, as, quote, the shame of mankind, a sink of vice, 18:28.350 --> 18:32.130 a sewer where is gathered all the filth of the world. 18:32.130 --> 18:35.690 There God is held in contempt. 18:36.510 --> 18:41.250 Money alone is worshipped, and the laws of God and men are trampled underfoot. 18:42.150 --> 18:47.950 Everything there breathes a lie, the air, the earth, the houses, 18:48.350 --> 18:51.390 and above all, the bedrooms, unquote. 18:52.390 --> 18:56.950 Referring to Avignon again as, quote, the Babylon of the West, 18:57.110 --> 19:02.950 unquote, Petrarch declared, quote, here reign the successors of the poor 19:02.950 --> 19:09.750 fishermen of Galilee, loaded with gold and clad in purple, boasting of the spoils of 19:09.750 --> 19:10.950 princes and nations. 19:10.950 --> 19:15.610 Instead of holy solitude, we find a criminal host. 19:16.550 --> 19:19.930 Instead of soberness, licentious banquets. 19:20.890 --> 19:27.810 Instead of the bare feet of the apostles, horses decked in gold and fed on gold, 19:28.430 --> 19:34.430 soon to be shod with gold, if the Lord does not check this slavish luxury, 19:34.930 --> 19:35.410 unquote. 19:36.330 --> 19:41.810 Of Rome's wealth in the Middle Ages, Peter DeRosa says, quote, the cardinals 19:41.810 --> 19:45.130 had huge palaces with countless servants. 19:46.530 --> 19:51.230 One papal aide reported that he never went to see a cardinal without finding him 19:51.230 --> 19:52.870 counting his gold coins. 19:53.690 --> 19:59.030 The Curia was made up of men who had bought office and were desperate to recoup 19:59.030 --> 20:00.410 their enormous outlay. 20:01.370 --> 20:06.750 For every beneficence of sea, abbey, and parish, for every indulgence, 20:06.870 --> 20:08.210 there was a set fee. 20:08.210 --> 20:13.750 The pallium, a two-inch wide woolen band with crosses embroidered on it, 20:14.130 --> 20:19.390 paid for by every bishop, brought in hundreds of millions of gold florins to 20:19.390 --> 20:20.470 the papal coffers. 20:21.430 --> 20:27.830 The Council of Basel of 1432 was to call it, quote, the most usurious contrivance 20:27.830 --> 20:30.330 ever invented, unquote. 20:30.330 --> 20:36.790 Peter DeRosa continues, quote, dispensations were another source of papal 20:36.790 --> 20:37.250 revenue. 20:38.050 --> 20:43.550 Extremely severe, even impossible, laws were passed so that the Curia could 20:43.550 --> 20:48.730 grow rich by selling dispensations such as from fasting during Lent. 20:48.730 --> 20:52.770 Marriage, in particular, was a rich source of income. 20:53.950 --> 20:58.690 Consanguinity was alleged to hold between couples who had never dreamed they were 20:58.690 --> 20:59.210 related. 21:00.270 --> 21:06.110 Dispensations from consanguinity in order to marry amounted to a million gold 21:06.110 --> 21:08.990 florins a year, unquote. 21:08.990 --> 21:12.130 An eyewitness account from Spain. 21:12.510 --> 21:13.730 This one will grab you. 21:14.650 --> 21:14.950 D. 21:15.110 --> 21:20.190 Antonio Gavin, author of the book entitled A Master Key to Potpourri, which we'll get 21:20.190 --> 21:25.910 to eventually here on Inquisition Update, was born and educated in Spain at the end 21:25.910 --> 21:27.090 of 1600s. 21:27.090 --> 21:32.530 As a Roman Catholic priest, he had become thoroughly disillusioned by the evil in 21:32.530 --> 21:34.210 which he found himself entangled. 21:35.430 --> 21:43.070 Fleeing the Spanish Inquisition disguised in an army officer's uniform, Gavin made 21:43.070 --> 21:44.530 his way to safety in England. 21:44.530 --> 21:50.810 His book gives a clear picture of Roman Catholicism in his day and has much to say 21:50.810 --> 21:55.710 about the incredible wealth and the part it played in the practice of Rome's 21:55.710 --> 21:58.010 paganized Christianity, unquote. 21:58.510 --> 21:59.630 Now listen to this. 21:59.630 --> 22:07.810 In the Cathedral of St. Salvatore, also known as Zaragoza, there are 10,000 22:07.810 --> 22:15.530 ounces of silver in plate, part of it gilt, to adorn the two corners of the 22:15.530 --> 22:21.650 altar on great festivals and an abundance of rich ornaments for priests of 22:21.650 --> 22:23.050 inexpressible value. 22:24.070 --> 22:33.330 84 chalices, 20 of pure gold and 64 of silver gilt on the inside of the cup and 22:33.330 --> 22:38.110 the rich chalice which only the Archbishop makes use of in his pontifical dress. 22:38.890 --> 22:45.010 All these things are but trifles in comparison with the great custodia they 22:45.010 --> 22:49.750 make use of to carry the great host through the streets in the festival of 22:49.750 --> 22:50.790 Corpus Christi. 22:50.790 --> 22:57.390 Now we're talking about a fixture commonly called a monstrance where they place the 22:57.390 --> 22:59.550 piece of bread known as the host. 22:59.690 --> 23:01.130 I call it the Jesus cookie. 23:02.310 --> 23:05.170 It was set in solid gold. 23:05.910 --> 23:13.730 Excuse me, this fixture, this custodia, this monstrance was solid gold set with 23:13.730 --> 23:16.470 diamonds, emeralds and other precious stones. 23:16.470 --> 23:19.730 It was 500 pounds weight. 23:20.670 --> 23:26.410 Several goldsmiths have endeavored to value this piece, but nobody could set a 23:26.410 --> 23:27.690 certain sum on it. 23:28.550 --> 23:30.090 And that's the end of the quote. 23:30.630 --> 23:36.210 Imagine a monstrance, 500 pounds weight, completely covered in the most valuable 23:36.210 --> 23:40.530 stones just to carry their Jesus cookie around. 23:41.530 --> 23:43.350 Wealth incalculable. 23:43.530 --> 23:45.090 We'll return right after this. 24:12.510 --> 24:16.070 You're listening to FirstAmendmentRadio .com worldwide. 24:16.610 --> 24:17.750 Freedom is never 24:36.190 I know you all want answers, and believe me, so do I, and I'll do my best to get 24:36.190 --> 24:36.390 them. 24:37.390 --> 24:39.730 Have you seen the Left Behind movies? 24:40.250 --> 24:43.570 Have you read the Left Behind fictional book series? 24:44.190 --> 24:47.410 Not everyone believes Left Behind is true prophecy. 24:47.930 --> 24:54.070 Some may even regard as conspiratorial the mainstream re-release of the Left Behind 24:54.070 --> 24:59.490 movie with actor Nicolas Cage portraying the main character as an attempt to 24:59.490 --> 25:04.730 further reinforce, in the minds of all, this perception of false prophecy. 25:04.730 --> 25:10.090 In order to condition the masses for the play about to begin. 25:10.590 --> 25:14.950 Because they see the world stage shaping to fulfill what they have been led to 25:14.950 --> 25:21.610 believe is sound biblical interpretation, a Left Behind rapture scenario, 25:22.110 --> 25:25.210 this false view of prophecy is reinforced in the mind. 25:25.210 --> 25:31.470 Not only of its adherence, but also includes those who have been merely 25:31.470 --> 25:34.050 exposed to the specific media. 25:34.630 --> 25:37.690 Is it possible that false prophecy can be fulfilled? 25:38.090 --> 25:40.770 The rapture theories have always been in dispute. 25:41.290 --> 25:48.310 Pre-trib, mid-trib, and post-trib disputes have risen up in exclusively evangelical 25:48.310 --> 25:50.590 circles of recent history. 25:50.590 --> 25:57.190 So that when true believers don't suddenly disappear, this element will easily go by 25:57.190 --> 26:02.530 the wayside when all see a new Jewish temple begin to be built. 26:02.970 --> 26:07.450 Will this be part of the great delusion that will come upon the whole earth? 26:07.710 --> 26:13.370 It seems that this great prophetic delusion has already overcome practically 26:13.370 --> 26:18.350 the entire American evangelical and Christian world. 26:18.350 --> 27:28.690 --> 27:33.530 Welcome back to the second half of the program, Inquisition Update continuing in 27:33.530 --> 27:35.630 Dave Hunt's book, A Woman Rides the Beast. 27:36.370 --> 27:41.610 Anthony Gavin saw more than just this 500-pound monster to carry the Jesus 27:41.610 --> 27:42.030 cookie. 27:42.030 --> 27:52.210 500-pound solid weight built by goldsmiths who couldn't even estimate its value. 27:52.490 --> 27:55.770 That's not all that Gavin saw. 27:56.670 --> 28:02.930 He says the most famous church in Saragossa is called Our Lady of the Pillar 28:02.930 --> 28:05.850 because of an alleged appearance of the Virgin there. 28:05.850 --> 28:12.530 Now, you must understand that this church is dedicated to this apparition known as 28:12.530 --> 28:12.910 Mary. 28:13.230 --> 28:17.890 This demonic apparition known as Mary who allegedly appeared there. 28:18.610 --> 28:23.010 And there's an image or a statue of the Virgin in this church. 28:23.950 --> 28:27.990 Now, Gavin describes the crown on the image of the Virgin. 28:28.430 --> 28:30.130 She's wearing a fancy crown. 28:30.130 --> 28:35.110 This little Mary dolly that is the feature of this church. 28:36.250 --> 28:38.370 A dolly, I call it. 28:38.470 --> 28:39.210 It's a statue. 28:41.410 --> 28:49.930 She dons a 25-pound weight crown set all over with large diamonds so that nobody 28:49.930 --> 28:51.610 can even see the gold in it. 28:52.250 --> 28:54.850 And everybody thinks it's all made of diamonds. 28:55.750 --> 29:03.710 You understand a 25-pound solid gold crown that is so densely encrusted with diamonds 29:03.710 --> 29:06.050 that you can't see the gold at all. 29:06.170 --> 29:10.570 It looks like a diamond crown just made of diamonds. 29:11.250 --> 29:16.950 He says, besides this rich one, remember this is just a dolly in the 29:16.950 --> 29:17.330 church. 29:18.150 --> 29:25.270 An image made with hands to represent a demonic apparition known as Mary. 29:26.210 --> 29:29.610 I mean, we've all seen these Marian statues, have we not? 29:30.510 --> 29:34.210 The little dollies of the Roman Catholic Church that they so much adore. 29:34.990 --> 29:38.970 They dress them up in the costliest array. 29:38.970 --> 29:48.430 He says, besides this rich crown that is supposedly 25 pounds solidly encrusted 29:48.430 --> 29:51.590 with diamonds so that none of the gold is even visible. 29:52.530 --> 29:59.230 Besides this rich one, she has six crowns more of pure gold set with rich diamonds 29:59.230 --> 30:00.290 and emeralds. 30:01.230 --> 30:09.590 He goes on to say, the roses of diamonds and other precious stones she has to adorn 30:09.590 --> 30:12.330 her mantle are innumerable. 30:12.930 --> 30:19.830 For though she, the image of the Virgin, the little dolly, is dressed every day in 30:19.830 --> 30:24.950 the color of the church's festival and never uses twice in a year the same 30:24.950 --> 30:25.350 mantle. 30:25.770 --> 30:29.450 Which is of the best stuff embroidered with gold. 30:29.450 --> 30:35.210 She has new roses of precious stones every day for three years together. 30:35.710 --> 30:44.490 She has 365 necklaces of pearls and diamonds and six chains of gold set with 30:44.490 --> 30:50.290 diamonds which are put on her mantle on the feast festivals, on the great 30:50.290 --> 30:51.510 festivals of Christ. 30:53.670 --> 31:02.070 So this little dolly of Mary in this church in Saragossa, Spain, Our Lady of 31:02.070 --> 31:08.930 the Pillar, has costumes made of incalculable wealth. 31:09.430 --> 31:14.510 So much so that she never has to wear the same outfit twice in one year. 31:14.510 --> 31:19.490 And some of her arraignments are so plentiful that she doesn't have to wear 31:19.490 --> 31:21.790 the same one for three years. 31:22.750 --> 31:25.050 The little dolly of Mary. 31:25.750 --> 31:26.690 A dolly. 31:27.310 --> 31:27.910 A statue. 31:28.950 --> 31:30.710 This is incredible. 31:31.650 --> 31:37.450 He says a visitor to Saragossa today might enter the treasure room to see some of 31:37.450 --> 31:37.990 this wealth. 31:37.990 --> 31:45.610 The Virgin has a different skirt for each day of the year, embroidered with gold and 31:45.610 --> 31:47.870 set with diamonds and other precious stones. 31:48.850 --> 31:51.830 Another image of silver, five feet high. 31:51.890 --> 31:53.390 That's right, another dolly. 31:53.670 --> 32:00.290 This one, a solid silver, is five feet tall, is set with precious stones, 32:00.670 --> 32:04.150 and wears a diamond studded crown of pure gold. 32:04.970 --> 32:10.350 In the early 1700s, quote, the Right Honorable Lord Stanhope, then General of 32:10.350 --> 32:13.430 the English Forces, unquote, was shown the treasure. 32:14.170 --> 32:19.570 Gavin was present and heard the General explain, quote, If all the kings of Europe 32:19.570 --> 32:24.610 could gather together all their treasures and precious stones, they could not buy 32:24.610 --> 32:27.490 half of the riches in this treasury, unquote. 32:27.490 --> 32:35.790 Such was the wealth 280 years ago in one cathedral in one small city in Spain. 32:36.430 --> 32:41.070 The Vatican's incredible riches have been accumulated at the expense of the people 32:41.070 --> 32:43.470 in even the poorest countries. 32:44.010 --> 32:48.230 At the time of Mexico's Civil War, the Roman Catholic Church there owned 32:48.230 --> 32:55.650 from, quote, one-third to one-half of all the land of the nation, and about half of 32:55.650 --> 32:57.750 all the property in Mexico City. 32:58.490 --> 33:03.650 Its revenues from tithes, masses, and the sales of devotional articles such 33:03.650 --> 33:10.290 as statues, little dollies, medals, rosaries, and the like, amounted to 33:10.290 --> 33:16.370 between six and eight million dollars annually, while its total revenues reached 33:16.370 --> 33:20.470 the astronomical figure of twenty million dollars. 33:21.590 --> 33:28.610 This drain on the poor country of Mexico was equal to the operating expense of the 33:28.610 --> 33:33.450 entire United States government during these same years, unquote. 33:33.910 --> 33:37.070 We bring this lamentable recital to a close. 33:37.070 --> 33:41.810 There can be no doubt that John's remarkable vision had come to pass. 33:42.750 --> 33:48.750 A city on seven hills, sainted with wealth, which claimed a special 33:48.750 --> 33:53.650 relationship to God and Christ, literally ruled over the kings of the 33:53.650 --> 33:53.950 earth. 33:54.850 --> 34:00.170 As with the other identifying criteria John provides, there's only one city in 34:00.170 --> 34:05.110 history, and only one city today, which passes this test. 34:05.110 --> 34:06.610 The Vatican. 34:07.290 --> 34:08.190 Vatican City. 34:09.110 --> 34:14.550 Peter DeRosa reminds us of what must have shocked the Apostle John, quote, 34:14.930 --> 34:17.190 Jesus renounced possessions. 34:18.190 --> 34:22.870 He constantly taught, quote, Go, sell all that thou hast and give to the 34:22.870 --> 34:25.550 poor, then come and follow me, unquote. 34:26.390 --> 34:29.010 He preached doom to the rich and powerful. 34:29.900 --> 34:35.050 Christ Vicar lives surrounded by treasures, some of pagan origin. 34:36.090 --> 34:40.830 Any suggestion that the Pope should sell all that he has and give to the poor is 34:40.830 --> 34:44.090 greeted with derision as impractical. 34:44.890 --> 34:48.790 The rich young man in the gospel reacted the very same way. 34:49.670 --> 34:51.750 Throughout his life, Jesus lived simply. 34:52.370 --> 34:56.550 He died naked, offering the sacrifice of his life on the cross. 34:56.550 --> 35:03.590 When the Pope renews that sacrifice at the Pontifical High Mass, no greater contrast 35:03.590 --> 35:04.430 could be imagined. 35:05.450 --> 35:12.390 Without any sense of irony, Christ Vicar, the Pope, is clad in gold and the 35:12.390 --> 35:13.710 costliest silks. 35:14.530 --> 35:19.530 The Pope has a dozen glorious titles, including State Sovereign. 35:20.370 --> 35:25.210 The Pope's aides also have titles somewhat unexpected in the light of the Sermon on 35:25.210 --> 35:25.630 the Mount. 35:25.630 --> 35:36.270 Excellency, Eminence, Your Grace, My Lord, Illustrious One, Most Reverend, 35:36.870 --> 35:37.570 and so on. 35:38.390 --> 35:44.290 Peter, always penniless, would be intrigued to know that according to Canon 35:44.290 --> 35:51.970 1518, his successor is, quote, the supreme administrator and manager of 35:51.970 --> 35:54.890 all church properties, unquote. 35:55.450 --> 35:58.970 Also, the Vatican has its own bank. 35:59.870 --> 36:03.770 The Vatican has its own bank. 36:04.210 --> 36:13.650 The most lawless, the most notorious, the most corrupt laundering machine in the 36:13.650 --> 36:14.050 country. 36:14.050 --> 36:15.690 In the world. 36:16.630 --> 36:21.490 And no earthly power can bring that bank to account for its intrigues. 36:22.470 --> 36:27.450 The Vatican has gathered its incalculable fortune through the most abominable means. 36:28.470 --> 36:30.550 Selling bogus tickets to heaven. 36:31.510 --> 36:35.890 Nino Lobello, former Rome correspondent for Businessweek, calls the Vatican, 36:36.350 --> 36:41.630 quote, the tycoon on the Tiber, unquote, because of its incredible wealth 36:41.630 --> 36:43.150 in worldwide enterprises. 36:44.230 --> 36:48.630 His research indicates that it owns fully one-third of Rome's real estate. 36:49.150 --> 36:52.870 And is probably the largest holder of stocks and bonds in the world. 36:53.270 --> 36:58.450 To say nothing of its ownership of industries, from electronics to plastics, 36:58.970 --> 37:02.450 to airlines, to chemical and engineering firms. 37:02.450 --> 37:09.910 In his September of 1993 trip to the Baltic countries, quote, the Pope was an 37:09.910 --> 37:13.950 unusually stern critic of unbridled capitalism. 37:14.450 --> 37:21.150 In a speech that hinted of more to come, the Pope said, capitalistic ideology was 37:21.150 --> 37:28.030 responsible for, quote, grave social injustices, unquote, and that Marxism's 37:28.030 --> 37:33.750 kernel of truth lay in seeing capitalism's faults, unquote. 37:34.330 --> 37:39.350 One marvels at the hypocrisy of such statements coming from the head of a 37:39.350 --> 37:42.510 church, which is the biggest capitalist in the world. 37:43.530 --> 37:50.490 Nino Lobello suggests that the church shed its, quote, mantle of piety, then at last 37:50.490 --> 37:55.430 the Vatican will expose the full extent of its financial interests, unquote. 37:56.150 --> 38:00.650 The woman riding the beast has used her wealth and power to subdue kings and 38:00.650 --> 38:05.550 kingdoms, and to slaughter millions, who though they were subject to civil 38:05.550 --> 38:08.750 authority, could not accept her heresies. 38:09.490 --> 38:15.130 To this day, that golden cup overflows with the blood of those who, for 38:15.130 --> 38:18.630 conscience sake, were martyred for their faith. 38:19.130 --> 38:21.250 That's the end of chapter 16. 38:22.670 --> 38:29.770 Chapter 17, entitled, Blood of the Martyrs, is preceded again by some very 38:29.770 --> 38:30.730 important quotes. 38:30.730 --> 38:37.350 This from John Anton Lorente, Secretary of the Spanish Inquisition, from 1790 to 38:37.350 --> 38:39.010 1792, quote. 38:39.930 --> 38:45.750 The horrid conduct of this holy office, the Inquisition, weakened the power and 38:45.750 --> 38:49.950 diminished the population of Spain by arresting the progress of arts, 38:50.450 --> 38:56.470 sciences, industry and commerce, and by compelling multitudes of families 38:56.470 --> 38:57.870 to abandon the kingdom. 38:57.870 --> 39:03.990 By instigating the expulsion of the Jews and the Moors, and by immolating on its 39:03.990 --> 39:07.850 flaming shambles more than 300,000 victims. 39:08.970 --> 39:13.690 Another quote by the Comte Lemaistre of 1815, quote. 39:13.830 --> 39:19.200 The Inquisition is, in its very nature, good, mild and preservative. 39:20.170 --> 39:25.160 It is the universal, indelible character of every ecclesiastical institution. 39:26.040 --> 39:31.540 You see it in Rome, and you can see it wherever the true church has power, 39:32.680 --> 39:32.980 unquote. 39:33.640 --> 39:36.780 And here, from an anonymous Catholic, quote. 39:37.600 --> 39:43.040 It would be better to be an atheist than believe in the God of the Inquisition, 39:43.620 --> 39:44.020 unquote. 39:44.720 --> 39:48.520 Now, back to the chapter, Blood of the Martyrs. 39:49.180 --> 39:52.540 She's drunk with the blood of the saints, and the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. 39:52.540 --> 39:57.320 This church, called Roman Catholic, supposedly a Christian church. 39:58.240 --> 40:02.460 Dave Hunt writes, the quotations on the facing page present two opposing 40:02.460 --> 40:05.100 viewpoints, both by Catholics. 40:05.900 --> 40:07.480 Only one is right. 40:08.380 --> 40:11.820 We learn the truth from John's vision, and from history. 40:12.620 --> 40:19.500 The woman astride the beast is, quote, drunken with the blood of the 40:19.500 --> 40:21.820 saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. 40:22.420 --> 40:24.900 See Revelation chapter 17, verse 6. 40:25.820 --> 40:31.380 It is a horrible picture, but one which history fully authenticates for Rome alone 40:31.380 --> 40:32.440 and no other city. 40:33.300 --> 40:36.960 Every citizen in the empire was required to be a Roman Catholic. 40:36.960 --> 40:42.320 Failure to give wholehearted allegiance to the Pope was considered treason, 40:42.420 --> 40:45.500 against the state, punishable by death. 40:46.280 --> 40:52.220 There was the basis for, here rather, here was the basis for slaughtering 40:52.220 --> 40:52.860 millions. 40:53.960 --> 41:00.460 As Islam would be a few centuries later, a paganized Christianity was imposed upon 41:00.460 --> 41:04.780 the entire populace of Europe under the threat of torture and death. 41:04.780 --> 41:10.120 Thus Roman Catholicism became, quote, the most persecuting faith the 41:10.120 --> 41:16.280 world has ever seen, commanding the throne to impose the Christian, or rather the 41:16.280 --> 41:19.440 Roman Catholic religion on all of its subjects. 41:20.460 --> 41:25.460 Pope Innocent III murdered far more Christians in one afternoon than any Roman 41:25.460 --> 41:27.800 emperor did in his entire reign. 41:28.720 --> 41:34.080 Will Durant writes candidly, quote, Compared with the persecution of heresy in 41:34.080 --> 41:41.100 Europe from 1227 to 1492, the persecution of Christians by Romans in the first three 41:41.100 --> 41:46.060 centuries after Christ was mild and humane in comparison. 41:47.000 --> 41:52.120 Making every allowance required by an historian and permitted to a Christian, 41:52.120 --> 41:57.220 we must rank the Inquisition, along with the wars and persecutions of our time, 41:57.600 --> 42:03.400 as among the darkest blots on the record of mankind, revealing a ferocity unknown 42:03.400 --> 42:06.460 in any beast, unquote. 42:07.340 --> 42:09.700 Poignant choice of words there, wasn't it? 42:10.440 --> 42:15.300 Of course, not all dissenters openly proclaimed their disloyalty to Rome. 42:15.900 --> 42:19.140 There were secret heretics who had to be sought out diligently. 42:19.140 --> 42:22.470 The method devised was the Inquisition. 42:23.380 --> 42:29.140 In the opinion of Egyptian and author Rolo Ahmed, quote, The most pitiless and 42:29.140 --> 42:34.560 ferocious institution the world has ever known, unquote, in its destruction of 42:34.560 --> 42:38.380 lives, property, morals, and human rights. 42:39.360 --> 42:45.140 Lord Acton, a Roman Catholic, called the Inquisition murderous and declared that 42:45.140 --> 42:50.900 the popes, quote, were not only murderers in the great style, but they made murder a 42:50.900 --> 42:55.860 legal basis for the Christian church and a condition of salvation, unquote. 42:56.460 --> 42:58.940 There's no absolution for Rome. 42:59.920 --> 43:04.000 Roman Catholic apologists deceitfully tried to absolve their church of any 43:04.000 --> 43:06.920 responsibility in the actual burnings of heretics. 43:07.620 --> 43:10.780 They claimed that the Inquisition was the work of the state. 43:10.780 --> 43:17.780 On the contrary, quote, The binding force of laws against heretics lay not in the 43:17.780 --> 43:22.680 authority of secular princes, but in the sovereign dominion of life and death over 43:22.680 --> 43:27.580 all Christians claimed by the popes as God's representatives on earth, 43:27.980 --> 43:31.700 as Pope Innocent III expressly states it, unquote. 43:32.600 --> 43:37.600 The penalties were executed by the civil authorities, but only as the secular arm 43:37.600 --> 43:38.360 of the church. 43:39.360 --> 43:45.800 Innocent III commanded the Archbishop of Aachen in Gascony, quote, We give you 43:45.800 --> 43:51.620 strict command that by whatever means you can, you destroy all these heresies. 43:52.360 --> 43:58.020 You may cause the princes and people to suppress them with the sword, unquote. 43:58.940 --> 44:03.500 The Pope offered, quote, a plenary indulgence to the king and nobles of 44:03.500 --> 44:07.260 France for aid in suppressing the Catharist heresy. 44:07.260 --> 44:13.140 To Philip Augustus, in return for such aid, the Pope offered the lands of all who 44:13.140 --> 44:18.480 should fail to join in the crusade against the Albigensians, unquote. 44:19.960 --> 44:25.400 Comte Lemaistre, in his letter written in 1815 to justify the Spanish Inquisition, 44:25.780 --> 44:30.600 states that it existed, quote, by virtue of the bull of the sovereign 44:30.600 --> 44:36.300 pontiff, unquote, and that the grand inquisitor, quote, is always either an 44:36.300 --> 44:38.560 archbishop or a bishop, unquote. 44:39.440 --> 44:44.960 If the authorities refused to execute the condemned, they would themselves be 44:44.960 --> 44:48.200 brought before the tribunal and consigned to the flames. 44:49.340 --> 44:53.600 It was the Popes themselves who invented the Inquisition and saw that it was 44:53.600 --> 44:54.320 carried out. 44:54.320 --> 45:03.140 Pope Gregory IX, in 1233, handed over the office of the Inquisition in permanence to 45:03.140 --> 45:09.160 the Dominicans, because always to be exercised in the name and by the authority 45:09.160 --> 45:11.300 of the Pope, unquote. 45:12.180 --> 45:17.660 As already noted, quote, of the 80 Popes in a line from the 13th century on, 45:18.100 --> 45:22.560 not one of them disapproved of the theology and apparatus of the Inquisition. 45:22.560 --> 45:28.320 On the contrary, one after another added his own cruel touches to the workings of 45:28.320 --> 45:30.420 this deadly machine, unquote. 45:30.960 --> 45:36.100 We are not quoting Protestants or ex-Catholics here, but Catholic 45:36.100 --> 45:36.820 historians. 45:38.040 --> 45:43.160 Listen to the leading 19th century Catholic professor of church history, 45:43.780 --> 45:50.540 quote, Through the influence of Gratian, an unwearied activity of the Popes and 45:50.540 --> 45:56.980 their legate since 1183 A.D., the view of the church had been that every departure 45:56.980 --> 46:02.260 from the teachings of the church and every important opposition to any ecclesiastical 46:02.260 --> 46:09.720 ordinances must be punished with death and the most cruel of deaths by fire. 46:10.720 --> 46:16.920 Innocent III declared the mere refusal to swear, and the opinion that oaths were 46:16.920 --> 46:23.120 unlawful, a heresy worthy of death, and directed that whoever differed in any 46:23.120 --> 46:27.960 respect from the common way of life of the multitude should be treated as a heretic. 46:28.620 --> 46:34.340 Both the initiation and carrying out of this new principle must be ascribed to the 46:34.340 --> 46:35.240 Popes alone. 46:35.240 --> 46:40.500 It was the Popes who compelled bishops and priests to condemn the heterodox to 46:40.500 --> 46:46.780 torture, confiscation of their goods, imprisonment and death, and to enforce the 46:46.780 --> 46:52.220 execution of this sentence on the civil authorities under pain of excommunication. 46:52.640 --> 46:58.700 From 1200 to 1500 A.D., the long series of papal ordinances on the Inquisition, 46:58.700 --> 47:05.440 ever increasing in severity and cruelty, and their whole policy toward heresy, 47:05.780 --> 47:07.800 runs on without a break. 47:08.720 --> 47:13.620 It is a rigidly consistent system of legislation. 47:14.780 --> 47:19.420 Every Pope confirms and improves upon the devices of his predecessor. 47:20.460 --> 47:27.140 All is directed to one end, of completely uprooting every difference of belief. 47:27.140 --> 47:32.300 It was only the absolute dictation of the Popes, and the notion of their 47:32.300 --> 47:37.060 infallibility in all questions of evangelical morality, that made the 47:37.060 --> 47:43.300 Christian world accept the Inquisition, which contradicted the simplest principles 47:43.300 --> 47:47.680 of Christian justice and love to our neighbor, and would have been rejected 47:47.680 --> 47:56.460 with universal horror in the ancient church." Far from being its originators, 47:57.360 --> 48:02.320 civil authorities often tried to resist the Inquisition, but they could not. 48:03.280 --> 48:07.820 Forced to carry out the sentence, executioners sometimes, quote, 48:08.280 --> 48:12.700 strangled the condemned before lighting them aflames, unquote. 48:13.620 --> 48:18.440 Such acts of deficient mercy were unfortunately the rare exception. 48:18.440 --> 48:22.680 A few compassionate voices were raised within the church. 48:23.220 --> 48:29.320 Quote, St. Bernard pointed out that Christ had expressly forbidden the line of 48:29.320 --> 48:37.500 conduct afterwards described by the Popes, and that it could only multiply hypocrites 48:37.500 --> 48:45.880 and confirm and increase the hatred of mankind against a bloodthirsty and 48:45.880 --> 48:47.980 persecuting church and clergy. 48:47.980 --> 48:49.120 Unquote. 48:50.120 --> 48:53.060 But most clergy agreed with the Popes. 48:53.980 --> 48:57.160 So what does that say about the clergy of the Roman Catholic Church? 48:57.800 --> 48:58.940 Are they an exception? 48:59.840 --> 49:04.120 Are they just unwilling, obedient slaves of the Popes? 49:04.880 --> 49:06.120 No, they are participants. 49:07.380 --> 49:08.960 How about papal decrees? 49:10.180 --> 49:15.140 We often learn of secular resistance from papal decrees overruling it. 49:15.140 --> 49:22.060 Will Duran informs us that in 1521, Pope Leo X issued the bull Onestos, 49:22.960 --> 49:28.880 which, quote, ordered the excommunication of any officials and the suppression of 49:28.880 --> 49:35.640 religious services in any community that refused to execute without examination or 49:35.640 --> 49:38.920 revision the sentences of the inquisitors. 49:39.740 --> 49:40.180 Unquote. 49:41.080 --> 49:44.240 Consider Clement V's rebuke of King Edward II. 49:44.240 --> 49:50.120 Quote, We hear that you forbid torture as contrary to the laws of your land, 49:50.420 --> 49:56.200 but no state law can override the church's canon law, our law. 49:57.060 --> 50:00.940 Therefore, I command you at once to submit those men to torture. 50:01.440 --> 50:01.860 Unquote. 50:02.720 --> 50:09.180 Pope Urban II, who reigned from 1088 to 1099, inspirer of the First Crusade, 50:09.760 --> 50:13.980 decreed that all heretics were to be tortured and killed. 50:14.900 --> 50:17.220 That became a dogma of the church. 50:18.300 --> 50:22.820 Acclaimed as the angelic doctor, even St. Thomas Aquinas taught that 50:22.820 --> 50:29.220 non-Catholics or heretics could, after a second warning, be legitimately 50:29.220 --> 50:29.960 killed. 50:29.960 --> 50:38.040 His exact words are, quote, They have merited to be excluded from the earth by 50:38.040 --> 50:38.700 death. 50:39.300 --> 50:39.840 Unquote. 50:40.760 --> 50:48.320 Pope Martin V, who reigned from 1417 to 1431, commanded the King of Poland in 1429 50:48.320 --> 50:55.480 to exterminate the Hussites, who were sympathizers with the martyred John Huss, 50:56.440 --> 50:59.480 who had fought back and had routed the Pope's army. 51:00.460 --> 51:04.580 The following from the Pope's letter to the King reinforces what we know of the 51:04.580 --> 51:10.900 evil of papal totalitarianism and tells us why Popes hated the Hussites and other 51:10.900 --> 51:13.740 independent Christians and wanted them destroyed. 51:14.680 --> 51:20.640 Quote, Know that the interests of the Holy See and those of your crown make it a duty 51:20.640 --> 51:22.400 to exterminate the Hussites. 51:23.360 --> 51:27.540 Remember that these impious persons dare proclaim principles of equality. 51:28.260 --> 51:33.200 They maintain that all Christians are brethren and that God has not given up to 51:33.200 --> 51:36.260 privileged men the right of ruling the nations. 51:36.260 --> 51:39.020 And I see we've run out of time. 51:39.740 --> 51:44.080 We'll return to this quote when we get back from the weekend on Monday. 51:44.920 --> 51:47.640 It's been my pleasure to host Inquisition Update this week. 51:47.860 --> 51:48.560 Pray for me. 51:49.040 --> 51:53.020 Email me tom at cwaves.us and I'll see you --> 54:22.930 That's crosstheborder.org. 54:23.130 --> 54:27.010 When it comes to prophecy today, much of the evangelical Christian world 54:27.010 --> 54:31.610 has their eyes on Israel, waiting and watching to see when the Third Temple will 54:31.610 --> 54:32.390 begin to be built. 54:32.390 --> 54:37.910 The plans are drawn, the Jewish people are eager, most evangelical Christians today 54:37.910 --> 54:40.950 believe that the rapture will happen before the Third Temple is built. 54:41.190 --> 54:42.910 Hi, I'm Michael Eugene. 54:43.450 --> 54:46.090 I was taught that Daniel's 70th week was in the future. 54:46.690 --> 54:48.330 Is that really what the Bible teaches? 54:48.990 --> 54:51.950 Have we searched the scriptures and found this to be true? 54:52.650 --> 54:56.290 Why is it so important for a re-established Israel to build a Third 54:56.290 --> 54:57.130 Temple in Jerusalem? 54:57.130 --> 55:02.370 Is it necessary to build a temple on the same location already occupied by the Dome 55:02.370 --> 55:02.850 of the Rock? 55:03.470 --> 55:07.410 Is it necessary for sacrifices to take place in the temple on Temple Mount? 55:07.910 --> 55:11.210 Is there really a rapture followed by seven years of tribulation? 55:12.010 --> 55:13.470 What is the New Testament Temple? 55:14.270 --> 55:16.430 Can we identify history and prophecy? 55:17.570 --> 55:20.230 Who is the first beast in Revelation chapter 13? 55:20.930 --> 55:23.450 Who are the seven kings in Revelation 17? 55:23.450 --> 55:27.810 I have asked all these questions and I have found Nicholas Arthur's new book, 55:28.390 --> 55:32.650 When the Third Temple is Built, answers all these questions and more using 55:32.650 --> 55:34.250 scripture to interpret scripture. 55:34.950 --> 55:38.370 The Bible says that no prophecy of scripture is of any private 55:38.370 --> 55:39.090 interpretation. 55:39.930 --> 55:42.810 Nicholas shows us in his new book, When the Third Temple is Built, 55:43.290 --> 55:47.430 how the Bible interprets prophecy and not man's private interpretation. 55:48.250 --> 55:57.570 Visit crosstheborder.org to get your print, e-pub, or pdf version of Nicholas 55:57.570 -->
